hat you see before you is my soul. My heart. All of it poured forth over the years onto scraps of paper, napkins, notebook pages, computer screens, pages of letters I’ve written to friends. Each time I wrote what my emotions were telling me to write, as if I was only the slave, the secretary, or the pen and paper itself. Some voice deep inside me took control and dictated these words to me.
      Each and every human being has a heart so I am in no way unique because of that single fact. Nearly every human being has the power of speech, sight, and hearing. Approximately half of the world’s population can read and write. Many of them know and use more words than I will ever learn. And many of them have written poetry, putting their thoughts or feelings into this form.
      My claim to uniqueness however is this: Not one single human being in the entire history of the world has lived inside this body. Not even one of them — except me, myself. None of them have ever heard what I thought as I lay dreaming or any other time. Only me. These poems are from that place, that mystical place called “my soul”, with which I am the only one in contact.

Previous Poetry Intro:

I once compiled a “complete” collection of my poetry which listed “God Is #1” as the earliest known poem, written Sept. 21, 1987, the day after my 15th birthday. I signed it “Willy Fry”. The chorus was borrowed from a song I’d heard as a child, and the verses were added on the listed date. However, other poems have surfaced from earlier dates. I referred to some of them as my lost poems, because I went so many years without the manuscripts.

From sci-fi to religious poems, my writing style continued to develop. Eventually, I left the religious themes and moved to writing poems on the normal subjects: love, death, depression, etc. However, one theme runs strong through all my poetry: the questions. I was continuously questioning life, what I saw and felt, whether it really existed, and why certain incidents occurred, either to me or around me. Also, it is evident that I also often questioned my own actions, as if I were acting without conscious control. It was the classic argument between Free Will and Predestination.

Some of my poems also bordered on the political, making statements about my devout beliefs, including: the fallacy of America’s two-party system, the fact that neither conservatives nor liberals are right all of the time, and that each citizen should make up his or her own mind after researching issues thoroughly.

In all cases, the original misspellings and/or grammar errors have been left in, either to show the writer’s development, or because I meant it that way. If you notice an error that doesn’t appear intentional, please email me so it can be corrected.

On Oct. 2, 2000, I also wrote the Three Shortest Poems in the History of the World. One of them was called “Emotional Leper”. The body of the poem only contained a single letter: “I”.
