As the crowds cheer,
As we sing up here,
The army of the Lord is on the move

As the trees grow,
As the winds blow,
The army of the Lord is on the move

As the streams flow,
As the stars glow,
The army of the Lord is on the move

As the storm churns,
As the world turns,
The army of the Lord is on the move

The army of the Lord will take the victory,
This army will contain you and me! (and)
After we win,
We won’t come here again,
‘Cause we’ll be in Heaven,
Worshipping the Lord!
Forever! And ever!

As we search the skies,
As the Shuttle flies,
The army of the Lord is on the move

As the plane zooms,
As the Bomb booms,
The army of the Lord is on the move

As the cars roll,
As drugs take their toll,
The army of the Lord is on the move

As you watch the clock,
As you buy and sell stock,
The army of the Lord is on the move

The army of the Lord will take the victory,
This army will contain you and me! (and)
After we win,
We won’t come here again,
‘Cause we’ll be in Heaven,
Worshipping the Lord!
Forever! And ever!

As we search the stars,
As we fly to Mars,
The army of the Lord is on the move

As you work so long,
As we sing this song,
The army of the Lord is on the move

As the Concorde flies,
As somebody dies,
The army of the Lord is on the move

The army of the Lord will take the victory,
This army will contain you and me! (and)
After we win,
We won’t come here again,
‘Cause we’ll be in Heaven,
Worshipping the Lord!
Forever! And ever!

My sisters and I performed this song in “concerts” for my parents. Over the years, the orders of the verses shifted. For example, my original manuscript shows the first two lines as follows:

As the Winds blow,
As the trees grow,

Three stanzas were not added until my first typed version in 1987, including the “crowds cheer”, “bomb booms”, and “cars roll”. Because of this, some later typed version list the date as “on a certain day”.
