As i looked out across my backyard, with unkempt grass and shrubs,
i thought a while, and i finally realized how sad it is
now that we’ve grown up and matured,
we don’t have much fun anymore, like we did when we were kids.
All our time seems to be taken up by homework and our jobs,
and if we don’t keep up with the rest of the world, we’ll look like slobs.
The suicide rate is going up, the success rate is going down,
and everywhere you look, there’s almost always a frown.
You can see the bums, the homeless,
and the failures sitting around town.
The business that i need to catch up on
is deep enough to make me drown.
So many people realize this sad situation in the world today,
and they try to make up a solution to take their problems away.
So far the solutions that they’ve come up with don’t seem to work,
Since our problems can’t be rectified in that way, they want to croak.
But even though i haven’t lived as long as some people,
    and don’t have their experience,
i know i have a solution that works: It’s Jesus.
Some people don’t seem to agree with me; they always want to be averse,
But then they start slipping, and worst comes to worst.
i have known this for quite a long time now,
and i’ve been doing quite well,
but other people’s lives just aren’t working out,
and they’re starting to think about Hell.
I only wish they would lend me an ear and listen to my message;
i just wish they would be able to hear and avoid all the damage.
They’re wandering around searching for a panacea,
and none are to be found,
And every time they get up off the floor, they fall down on the ground.
i know there is a solution that works, but they won’t listen to me.
Maybe if they saw God face to face, then they would start to see;
i know there is a solution that works: it’s Jesus.
He will help you through your hard times, and your trials,
He will brighten you Whole day, every time he smiles.
Yes, there is a solution that works: It’s Jesus.
I'm not going to try to fool you and say i don't
have any problems, because i do,
but I'll tell you right now, each and every
time, Jesus has pulled me through
Whenever i seem to be going down emotionally,
and times are starting to get hard,
i reach for my Solution; and when He comes,
    my problems never get far.
i know i have a solution that works: it's Jesus.
Maybe the next time you are chastised by the world,
And you are confused and lost,
i hope you'll reach for the Bible, God's Holy Word;
i hope you come to the cross.
You can lay your burdens on the shoulders of Jesus Christ.
He'll carry them for you, and give you the power to win the fight.
Even if you're already serving Him, and things still aren't right,
You must be doing something wrong, and you're not
    walking in the Light.
Whenever you seem to be going down emotionally,
and times are starting to get hard,
Just reach for your Solution; and when He comes,
    your problems'll never get far.
You know you have a Solution that works: It's Jesus.
Reach out right now!

Note: “...when we were kids...” — I was 15 years old when I wrote this. “...our jobs...” — I didn’t get a job until October 1988.
