Do you remember, Holly, the poem I wrote for you?
In it I spoke of love, and it is still true,
but there is something I should have told you first
And unless I tell you now, the situation will just get worse.
Although my love for you is growing, and is already great,
and it has grown past what I could possibly demonstrate,
There is one who loves you more than I ever could (or ever will)
There is one, besides me, whose love for you is good (and is so real)
Maybe you can predict what I am going to say
Even so, it happens that this is the only way
To get things straight inside my head, and yours.
I hope and pray that my words are on course.
The One who loves you is Jesus, He’s the only way
To get things straight inside a heart, So that’s why I say
Give your life to Him, give Him something that counts
He’ll give life to you, life that ever abounds.
For we are like grass, here one day, gone the next
This life is so short. There’s no time to be vexed
With the everyday troubles we always come across
Jesus will also take your troubles and put them on the Cross.
You will still have trials, you’ll still have pain
But don’t you worry, with Jesus, it’s not in vain.
When you’re living for Jesus, your life as a purpose, a reason.
You’ll have a permanent holiday spirit, for He is the reason for the Season.

This was to a classmate, H.L., not to my relative H.R.U.
