Fires burning low, heart strings are unstrung
No merry choruses will be sung
Purposes in life are clear, but unction is lacking
Goodness of heart has lately been slacking

Lately, I’ve known that I’ve needed to pray
To fellowship with the Ancient of Days
Excuses come quickly, blinding me to the Truth
But once again, He loved me, all the way thru
Sitting at His feet I learn from His Words
The sweetest things that you’ve ever heard
His Hand reaches down, and touches my heart
Again I am lifted, and given a new start

The original version of this poem contained only four lines. The last eight lines above were added months later, because I thought the original lacked resolution.
