SHRUG

I shrug, striding through carousing dreams,
    the past crunching underfoot
Hazy promises hover around, just to keep me on my toes
Love? You should know the answer to that by now
Love avoids me like I avoid the bill collector
Perhaps LOVE will file bankruptcy to get me off its back
Yet, no longer do I give up.
Remember? I’ve tried giving up before, but only failed.
So,
I shrug, and stride on, wondering “what happens next?”
