Rest these weary bones
Listen to soothing tones
Aren’t you tired of aching
Isn’t your back now breaking
Fading is all the hustle bustle
Feel the leaves in wind rustle
Lay your aged body down
Pillow underneath your crown
Feel each nerve that plaintively cries
Close dry and colorful eyes
Drift on into new and familiar dreams
From silent night blossom healing beams
Reparation seeping through each vein
Unrooting each unruly pain
Rest these weary bones
Emit unconscious moans
Rest this weary mind
Peaceful dreamland find
Rest these callused hands
Hourglass dropping sands
Sleep this painless night
Cool each burning light
Slow these running feet
Soothe with healing heat
For soon, morning will arrive
To find you newly alive
So, before finding breaking dawn
When shortened shadows travel the lawn
Before waking with stifled groans
Lay down and rest these weary bones
