We Won’t Forget

There is the waiting
When a friend lets you down
Stands you up
And you sit on the curb
And watch the late night weekend traffic
Smoke another cigarette
Wondering why you did all you did for them
When they obviously don’t appreciate it
But then you are saved
By someone else
Who gives a damn
And gives you a ride
To where you want to go
The liquor store & back
And he helps you cuss the bastard who stranded you
We won’t forget

To: Derek, a McDonald’s manager, Jacksonville, Ark.
