Dead Inside

When I arrived, exhausted, at Death’s flaming gate
And viewed both conscious and comatose souls on the other side
I felt that no great change had occurred in my life’s Fate
Since I have — for too long — felt completely dead inside

(At each sunset, I have seen all emotion dreadfully disappear
No love, no anger, nor joy or jealousy or peace or hate)
And so I signed my name, and entered without fear
When I arrived, at long last, at Death’s flaming Gate.
