She Said, I Wonder

“It’s just a harmless kiss”
(With a shrug and a smile)
(With diverted eyes)
“What’re you jealous for?”
(With outspread hands
And a hurtful glare)
“Don’t you trust me?”
(With a huff and a sigh,
Acting hurt and put upon)

So it was my fault, she said
I was over-possessive, she said
And she had no freedom, she said
She felt trapped, she said

“I’m in love with someone else”
(With an innocent smirk,
Relief upon her face)

So whose fault was it?   I wonder
Who “possessed” whom?   I wonder
Who had the freedom?   I wonder
Who is trapped, now?   I wonder
