Wanting What I Can’t Have

The whole time
I’m telling you how I’m doing fine
My heart is crying to you
For you
And I smile, ‘cause I know it’ll
Never come true
My dream, that is, of you
Would you ever sit with me
On this “pre-owned” sofa?
Or walk with me through
This land that owns me?
Would you ever just kick back
With me and watch an old movie?
Could I even dream that it would be so?
I dare not
Could you ever be happy with me?
Could I ever be happy with you?
Or am I just wanting
What I can’t have
Again
