This Girl On The Train

That girl riding the rails
Heading out to nowhere
Where she’s from, where she’s going
Her hair on her shoulders
Her eyes far away

She doesn’t know I’m watching
Or she would be glaring
She’s a little mad at me now
Something I said, I guess
How tenuous is the tie

Trapped in this train
With us cut in twain
Is quite a lonely ride
But I’ll stick it out
If she’ll just turn to me

She’s not turning
Her stubborn eyes are lying
Saying she’s fine
Everything’s fine
Her eyes are far away

Thank god it’s a long ride
It’ll all be okay with me
And this girl on the train
Heading out to nowhere
Her eyes far away

Memories of Summer 1998.
