Sometimes I stay awake on purpose
When everyone else goes to sleep
Just to hear the beautiful silence
To breathe without interruption
To think three thoughts in a row
Just one light burning for my pen
Every other switch set to “off”
I know I’ll sleep soon too
I can feel it coming
Such a relief
