Autumn, A Little Late

Long hot summers make me forget
The wonder of a warm autumn afternoon
The early sunsets make you appreciate the daylight

Like the perfect song playing
With the windows down at twilight
Another year is about to close

Seventy days or so until
We'll vow new resolutions
With sincere intentions to keep them

A child is aging, a man is fading
The cycle is repeating its repetition
There's a little bite to the air

And those last beams of sunlight
Glance off your skin just like that
You're golden, you're beaming, you're mine

90°F temperatures persist deep into October, but today's high was just 79°F. We took the kids to a city park and played until after sunset and then supped at IHOP before returning to the playground.
