‘Everything is temporary’, said the preacher man to me
‘Except the Righteous God who made the Evil Tree’
Dust in the wind and grass before the flame
All that you know and the lusts you cannot tame
‘None of it will pass Judgment; trust me, you'll see’

Then he said I’d live forever if only I’d repent
And give to his God my love — and every last red cent
I laughed till I wept and told him that he lied
And said to check with me again after we died
Then we’ll see whose lifetime was most poorly spent
