If You Think

If you think my love for you has faded
If you think eight years has made me jaded
You’re wrong, my lovely dear

If it looks like I’m going through the motions
Or that I’ve lost love’s magic potions
That’s not quite right or even near

Looking back, I can’t count a single day
I didn’t have one good thing to say
About you, my precious one

You are to me even more than you were before
My reason, my anchor, my everything and more
More than anything I’ve ever done

If you think your youthful beauty has faded
There’s no way that I could be persuaded
That such a thing is true

On this great big planet we call Earth
There’s no sunset or flower or miracle of birth
That’s more beautiful to me than you

To my wife. Written for Mother's Day (May 11) 2014
