The Age Of Science

We live in the Age of Science
But we think changing our clocks tricks the Sun
And my country has spent twice as much on one war
As every nation combined spends on research

The sea level rises and our response is to
build more condominiums on the eroding shore
More people believe in astrology now than ever
And half the country believes in ghosts

We still argue about “race”
Despite there not being any
And we keep electing leaders who ensure
That fairy tales are taught as true

My country has eighteen million empty homes
And three-and-a-half million people without one
A third of our population watched the Super Bowl
As high as the percentage that votes

Scientists explain concepts on YouTube
Because they know the kids won’t read
And people murder their children
In the name of their religion

Yes, the Age of Science

Today, we set our clocks forward for Daylight Saving Time, not the most idiotic thing our country has ever done, but still idiotic. And it got me to thinking. How far have we really come?
