I filled ten thousand pages
With thoughtful words and rhymes
And lately I’ve sifted through
All those turbulent times
Rarely struck by brilliance
But a few times I was smart
If nothing else can be said
I usually wrote from my heart
Now I find myself still writing
Words that only I will read
Partly to document this crazy life
But mostly to fulfill a need
