Looking out the window
Of my speeding train
Yet somehow also standing
In the pouring rain
I felt the poison seeping
Deep into my brain
A little late to realize
That I’d gone insane
Everyone was laughing
At what I said and done
A quick head count showed
I was the only one
Crawling into solitude
Is my idea of fun
None of this will make sense
When it’s said and done
• “...speeding train...” — Train references are typically regarding
my 1998 Amtrak trip from Little Rock to Los Angeles.
• “...standing in the... rain...” — Rain references often hearken to my
teen habit of praying outside when it was raining.
